## What IntoSQL fixes before your database sees it

Real files break imports in the same few ways. Each fix is listed in the report, row by row, so you can check it.

- **Dates in any order:** When one date in a column is 25/03/2026, every date there is day-first, so 07/03/2026 is 7 March. You can also set the order yourself. `07/03/2026` becomes `2026-03-07`.
- **Decimal commas:** Numbers written the European way are read as numbers, not as text. `1.234,50` becomes `1234.50`.
- **Leading zeros:** ZIP codes, phone numbers and IDs keep their zeros and are stored as text. `00721` becomes `'00721'`.
- **Currency and thousands:** Currency symbols and thousands separators are removed, so the column stays numeric. `$1,234.50` becomes `1234.50`.
- **Empty markers:** N/A, null, a dash and blank cells become NULL instead of text. `N/A` becomes `NULL`.
- **Yes and no:** Columns of yes and no, or true and false, are stored as booleans. `yes` becomes `TRUE`.
- **Old encodings:** Files saved as Windows-1252 or Latin-1 are converted to UTF-8, so accents survive. `Windows-1252` becomes `UTF-8`.
- **Titles, totals and notes:** A title above the header, a total row and notes under the table are left out of the data. `Total: 1.520` becomes `(left out)`.
- **Column names:** Names become snake_case; blank, repeated and reserved names get one the database accepts. `Fecha de venta` becomes `fecha_de_venta`.

## Formats and databases

Every file type converts to every database. Each page explains the type mapping for that pair.

## The same engine wherever you work

- **In your browser:** The converter on this page. Free, with no account, and your file never leaves your computer.
- **Desktop app:** For macOS, Windows and Linux: files of any size, loaded straight into PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB or SQLite. Part of Pro. [About the desktop app](https://intosql.com/vi/may-tinh)
- **API:** Convert from your own code: upload a file or send its address, then download the SQL. Webhooks tell you when it's done. Part of Pro. [API reference](https://intosql.com/vi/nha-phat-trien)
- **AI assistants:** Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor convert files for you through IntoSQL's MCP server. Part of Pro. [Connect an assistant](https://intosql.com/vi/nha-phat-trien#mcp)

## Free in the browser, Pro for the rest

Converting here is free, with no account and no limit on how many files. IntoSQL Pro adds the desktop app, loading into databases, the API and AI assistants. [See the plans](https://intosql.com/vi/bang-gia)

## Questions

### Is my file uploaded?

No. The converter runs on your computer with WebAssembly, and the file never leaves it. Only the API and AI assistants convert on IntoSQL's servers, and those files are deleted 24 hours after the conversion ends.

### Is it free?

Converting in the browser is free, with no account. IntoSQL Pro is for the desktop app, loading straight into databases, the API and AI assistants.

### How big can the file be?

CSV and JSON are read as they stream in, so files of several gigabytes work in the browser. Spreadsheets are read whole, so their limit is your device's memory. The desktop app takes files of any size, and the API takes files up to 50 GB.

### Which databases does it write SQL for?

PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, SQL Server and Oracle. It can also write the cleaned table as CSV or JSON.

### What about a workbook with several sheets?

Choose the sheet to convert. The header row is found for you, and you can pick another one.

### How does it know whether a date is day-first or month-first?

It looks for a date that can only be read one way, such as 25/03/2026, and reads the whole column that way; the report shows which date decided it. When no date decides it, choose the order in the options.

### Can it load the data into my database?

The browser gives you a script to run, or a SQLite database file. The desktop app loads straight into PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB or SQLite.
